Stop At:  Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project, 13A Galle Road, Kosgoda 80570 Sri Lanka

Sightseeing | Release the Baby Turtle to Sea | Educational Program

Sea turtles stand out as some of the most captivating creatures globally, with an evolutionary history dating back to the late Jurassic period. These remarkable beings find their habitat in both the sea and beach dunes. Matured female sea turtles undertake awe-inspiring migrations to lay their eggs on the beach. A typical clutch comprises 50 to 350 eggs, buried in circular holes 20cm to 40cm deep in the sand. After an incubation period of 50–60 days, baby sea turtles break free from their shells, navigate through the sand, and embark on their journey into the ocean. In Sri Lanka, extensive conservation efforts are in place to protect sea turtles from natural predators and human interference. The southwest coast, particularly Kosgoda, serves as a prominent home for various sea turtle species. Volunteering missions play a crucial role in these conservation projects sanctioned by the National Wildlife Conservation of Sri Lanka. Consider engaging in volunteering opportunities to contribute to the protection and preservation of these majestic creatures in diverse ways.

Stop At: Galle Fort, Church Street, Galle 80000 Sri Lanka

Sightseeing | Swimming at Lighthouse | Have Curd at Sunset

In a bygone era, Galle Fort was the residence of the Portuguese, who unexpectedly arrived in Ceylon. Enchanted by its allure, they constructed a Rampart in 1584 and established a lasting presence until the Dutch colonials claimed ownership. The Dutch era is renowned for shaping Galle Fort, as they erected the most captivating fortress city with classic colonial architecture in 1684. However, the British eventually overpowered them, bringing their rule to an end. Subsequent to British rule, Galle Fort underwent significant reforms, including the construction of the Lighthouse.
